FAQs

When I buy something, how much does the charity I choose get?

If an item is Donated then the charity of your choice will get at a minimum 40% of the proceeds. The remaining 60% pay for our general & administrative expenses and our net profit. As we grow, if we can decrease our costs, then a larger percentage will go to the charity of your choice. If an item is Purchased for Re-Sale then the charity of your choice will get at a minimum 20% of the gross profit from the sale. The remaining funds pay for our cost of buying this product, our general & administrative expenses and our net profit.

Why does Give.bz take a profit?

We are unique by being the only charitable fundraiser (that we know about) that will give on average more than 24% of its sales revenue to non-profits chosen by our customers. Other sites offer small donations usually less than 5% of a sale and often charge fees for their services. We make our substantial donations at absolutely no cost to the non-profit. We create the website for them, we collect the products and services for sale, we generate the sales of these items and we send them a significant portion of the proceeds. We could only afford to do this, if we did it in a profitable, sustainable manner. We are a not-just-for profit organization.

Do You Have Something to Donate?

Are you a manufacturer or distributor with a drop ship program? If so, and you'd like to donate products and designate a particular non-profit to benefit from each sale then please contact Jonathan Rosen at: jonathan@give.bz

Who gets a tax deduction?

Any individual or business who donates a product or service to a 501c3 organization will get a tax deduction equal to the cost basis of the donation. The donation will go to the 501c3 organization, with Give.bz only acting as the exclusive selling agent of that item.

If you purchase an item you are not entitled to a tax deduction because you are receiving something of equal value.

What makes Give.bz so unique?

Give.bz merges all the fundraising needs of charitable organizations with all the profit potential from selling purchased or donated goods and services. This has never been done before. Currently charitable fundraising concentrates on a specific event (e.g., the Spring Fundraiser, Walkathon or bake sale), a specific set of items (e.g., the silent auction of products or services donated by the charitable community holding the auction), and the continual solicitation of their members. This method of fundraising requires the not-for-profit to spend money up front in order to raise money for their cause. Give.bz takes a larger view of charitable fundraising. We will collect any product or service we can sell on behalf of a charity, whether it is donated or purchased, and sell these products or services on behalf of 501c3 organizations, with a significant portion of the profit going to the charity. Give.bz fundraising can be continuous (not event based). Give.bz fundraising involves unlimited products and services (not limited to a specific set of items) and the not-for-profit does not have to spend a penny to raise money for their cause.
